JPG to DXF: an image to a clean DXF

Most image to DXF converters trace the pixels, and you spend the next hour deleting stray segments and joining broken outlines. Horezmi redraws the part instead: closed contours, true circles for the holes, the sizes you wrote on the sketch. The DXF opens in any CAD program and goes straight to a laser, a plasma table or, through one more click, a CNC router.

How it works

  1. 01

    Upload the image

A JPG or PNG of a drawing, a phone photo of a part next to a ruler, or a hand sketch with the sizes written on it. Say what it is for: «for laser cutting», «for a CNC router».

  2. 02

    Get the DXF

Clean geometry at full scale in millimetres or inches, plus a PDF with dimensions. Change a size in words: «holes 10 mm», «width 450».

  3. 03

    Cut it

Download the DXF for your CAM or cutter. For a router, Download → CNC program writes the G-code from the same DXF, free.

A real example

A machined part drawn with views, an isometric view and dimensions, from a sketch with sizesCame out
A real run: a part redrawn from a sketch with its sizes, with views, an isometric view and dimensions, ready to export as DXF.

What you get

  • DXF and DWG at full scale, with layers
  • Closed contours and real circles, ready for CAM
  • A PDF sheet with dimensions
  • G-code for a CNC router from the same drawing, free

What Horezmi does not do

  • It redraws what it can read. A photo taken at a steep angle or without any known size gives a drawing that needs its sizes checked.
  • Artistic images with soft edges and shading are not its strength: it draws lines and shapes, not photographs.
  • No nesting of several parts on one sheet yet.

Questions

Why not a free JPG to DXF converter?

Use one if your image is already clean black lines and you only need an outline. If it is a photo, a scan or a sketch, a tracer gives you the noise too. Redrawing gives geometry you can cut without cleaning it up.

Which file types?

JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP and TIFF images, PDFs, and DWG or DXF to change an existing drawing.

What does it cost?

The first $5 are free when you sign in. A simple part usually costs a few dozen cents, there is no subscription, and the G-code is free.

Try it on your own drawing
