Image to DWG: a JPG, PNG or photo of a plan to AutoCAD

Snap the plan on paper, a page from an old catalogue, even a screen, or upload the JPG or PNG you already have. What comes back is a DWG that opens in AutoCAD like any other: walls on their own layer, doors and windows cut as openings, rooms named with their areas, dimension lines in place. You also get a PDF sheet to scale and a 3D model.

How it works

  1. 01

    Send the photo

A phone picture will do, as long as the plan is sharp and you can read the sizes. Several pages at once are fine, so is a plan plus a close-up of the sizes.

  2. 02

    Horezmi reads it and draws

It works out the outline, the walls, the doors and windows and every size written on the plan. Then it lays out the sheet in your standard: feet and inches on ARCH or ANSI, millimetres on ISO or GOST.

  3. 03

    Fix it in words

Type "the kitchen window is 4 feet", or click a wall and enter its thickness. The new version opens in the same place, changes highlighted.

A real example

A page of a 1940 house catalogue: a five-room Cape Cod plan drawn in perspectiveSent
The same house as a floor plan on sheet A-101 at 1/4" = 1'-0" with grid lines and dimensionsCame out
A real run: a page of a 1940 catalogue in, sheet A-101 out, room sizes taken from the picture, no retouching.

What you get

  • DWG for AutoCAD and DXF for any other CAD program, with layers
  • A PDF sheet to scale with a title block
  • Room schedule with areas; door and window schedule
  • A 3D model of the building and four elevations

What Horezmi does not do

  • A blurry, cropped or badly skewed photo gives a partial plan. You will be told which sizes could not be read, and asked for them.
  • If a size is not written on the plan, it gets estimated from the others. So check the dimensions before you build or order anything.
  • Only what is on the picture gets drawn. Hidden structure, wiring and plumbing are not guessed at.

Questions

How long does it take?

Usually 2 to 5 minutes for a house. A big plan gets a price first, and nothing starts until you agree.

What does it cost?

The first $5 are free when you sign in. A typical house plan costs about $0.50 and a change about $0.25. There is no subscription.

Can I edit the DWG in AutoCAD afterwards?

Yes. It is a normal DWG with layers, lines, text and dimensions. Not a picture pasted into a file.

How is this different from a free JPG to DWG converter?

A free converter traces pixels, so you get thousands of short wobbly lines and the stains with them. Horezmi reads the plan the way a drafter would and draws it again: straight walls of the right thickness, openings, room names and real dimensions.

Which files can I upload?

JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP and TIFF images, PDFs and DWG or DXF files, up to 10 at once.

Which units and sheets?

Feet and inches on ARCH and ANSI sheets for the USA, millimetres on ISO sheets for Europe, GOST and SPDS for the CIS.
